Solarfun changes company name to Hanwha SolarOne

Until December 2010 Hanwha SolarOne was better known as Solarfun Power Holding. In 2010 the Korean chemical coorperation acquired 49.9 per cent interest in the solar company Solarfun. So the corporate management decided to accomodate the new structure by changing the name of the company to Hanwha SolarOne. Hanwha is going to expand the production capacity during the first three years and will invest 500 Mio. US Dollar. The company wants to build a new manufacturing plant in Jiangsu. Initially the capacity of solar cells and modules will be 1 Gigawatt per year, for the future 2 Gigawatt. Following a press release of Hanwah Solar One, they want to become one of the three leading producers in 2015. Some days ago we received the official announcement regarding the change of name by Peter Xie, CEO at Hanwha SolarOne.
